Tempura Fried Oreos
The Fair Has Competition
One Double Stuf Oreo, one minute in the fryer, and suddenly dessert tastes like a trip to the fair. Tempura fried Oreos are crispy outside, soft and creamy inside, and much safer than the carnival rides.
INGREDIENTS
- 16 Double Stuf Oreo cookies
- 1 bag Ms. Wong's Tempura Mix
- ½ cup ice-cold water
- 40 ounces vegetable oil, for a 4-quart pot
Directions
STEP 1: Heat the Oil
Pour 2 to 3 inches of oil into a deep pot and heat it to 380°F.
STEP 2: Prep the Oreos
Remove the Oreos from the package and keep them whole.
STEP 3: Batter Up
Gently mix 1 bag Ms. Wong's Tempura Mix with ½ cup ice-cold water until just combined.
⭐ Pro tip: Nest the mixing bowl in ice to keep the batter cold.
STEP 4: Fry Fearlessly
Coat each Oreo in batter and carefully place it in the 380°F oil. Fry for about 60 seconds, until golden and crispy. Work in two batches.
STEP 5: Serve & Enjoy
Let the Oreos cool briefly on a rack, then eat them while the centers are still warm and creamy.
