Tempura Sweet Potato Fries
Regular Fries, Step Aside
Tempura sweet potato fries bring golden crunch outside and soft, naturally sweet centers inside. They're hearty enough for a side, snackable enough for a late-night craving, and better than regular fries. One batch is never enough.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 medium sweet potato, peeled and cut into ½-inch sticks
- 1 bag Ms. Wong's Tempura Mix
- ½ cup ice-cold water
- 60 ounces vegetable oil, for a 6-quart pot
- Chipotle ranch or your favorite dipping sauce
Directions
STEP 1: Heat the Oil
Pour 2 to 3 inches of oil into a deep pot, keeping it no more than halfway full. Heat the oil to 380°F.
STEP 2: Prep the Sweet Potato
Peel the sweet potato and cut it lengthwise into ½-inch sticks.
STEP 3: Batter Up
Gently mix 1 bag Ms. Wong's Tempura Mix with ½ cup ice-cold water until just combined.
STEP 4: Fry Fearlessly
Coat each sweet potato stick in batter and carefully place it in the 380°F oil. Fry for 3 minutes, until lightly golden and crispy. Work in two batches.
STEP 5: Serve & Enjoy
Serve hot with chipotle ranch or whatever sauce you are craving.
